Our story

Just Automatic Driving School has been teaching learners across the West Midlands since 2016 a decade of helping people pass their test in an automatic car. We were built on one simple belief: learning to drive shouldn't be stressful.

By teaching in automatic cars only, we remove the hardest part of learning gears and clutch control so you can focus on the road, your confidence, and passing your test. Over the years we've helped complete beginners, nervous learners and drivers returning after years away, right across Birmingham, Coventry, Solihull, Walsall and the surrounding areas.

We stay 100% focused on automatic tuition, because specialising means we do one thing exceptionally well: getting you test ready in a calm, modern, supportive way.

Automatic driving lessons: your questions answered

Why should I choose an automatic-only driving school in Birmingham?

An automatic car has no clutch and no gears to change, so there's less to think about and nothing to stall. As automatic-only specialists serving Birmingham since 2016, our DVSA-approved instructors focus entirely on automatic tuition, which helps most learners feel confident sooner and often pass in fewer lessons.

Are your automatic driving instructors DVSA-approved?

Yes. Every lesson is taught by a fully qualified, DVSA-approved automatic driving instructor. You can verify any UK instructor's status on the official GOV.UK register of approved driving instructors.

Do you offer automatic driving lessons for nervous and first-time learners?

Yes. We specialise in nervous and first-time learners. Automatic cars remove gears and clutch control, and our patient instructors build your confidence in a calm, judgement-free environment across Birmingham and the West Midlands.

How many automatic driving lessons will I need to pass?

It varies by individual and any previous experience. The DVSA suggests most learners need around 45 hours of professional lessons, but many automatic learners need fewer than in a manual car because there are no gears or clutch to master. Your instructor will give you an honest estimate after your first few lessons.

Which areas across Birmingham and the West Midlands do you cover?

We provide automatic driving lessons across Birmingham, Coventry, Halesowen, Redditch, Solihull, Walsall, Wolverhampton and West Bromwich. If you don't see your area, get in touch and we'll let you know if we can help.

Do you offer intensive (crash) automatic driving courses?

Yes. Our intensive automatic courses are designed to get you test-ready quickly, typically within 1 to 3 weeks. They suit learners who already have a test booked or who want to pass as fast as possible.

Should I learn in an automatic or a manual car?

Automatic is often quicker and less stressful to learn because there's no clutch or gears to manage, making it ideal for nervous learners and anyone who plans to drive an automatic or electric car. The main trade-off is that passing in an automatic gives you an automatic-only licence.

If I pass my test in an automatic car, can I drive a manual?

If you pass your UK driving test in an automatic car, your licence lets you drive automatic vehicles only. To drive a manual later, you would take a separate manual test. With most new and electric cars now automatic, an automatic licence suits many drivers.
